Project Engineer - Mechanical (Elevator Industry)
The Project Engineer - Mechanical (Elevator Industry) is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring the mechanical aspects of elevator and escalator installation projects from project initiation through final turnover. The position ensures that all mechanical installation activities are completed in accordance with approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, company quality standards, safety regulations, and project schedules. The Project Engineer works closely with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal departments to facilitate efficient project execution, resolve technical issues, and ensure successful project delivery. The role also involves conducting site inspections, monitoring manpower and materials, preparing engineering reports, supporting testing and commissioning activities, and maintaining accurate project documentation. The Project Engineer is expected to demonstrate sound engineering judgment, effective leadership, and strong coordination skills while delivering projects that meet client expectations, contractual requirements, and organizational objectives.
Plan, organize, and coordinate assigned elevator and escalator projects from mobilization through project completion.
Develop project implementation schedules and monitor progress against approved timelines.
Coordinate project requirements with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal departments.
Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contract requirements before project implementation.
Attend project coordination meetings and provide engineering recommendations.
Supervise the installation of elevator and escalator mechanical components, including guide rails, machines, traction systems, counterweights, doors, car frames, safety devices, and related equipment.
Ensure all installation works comply with approved engineering drawings, manufacturer specifications, and company quality standards.
Monitor installation progress and resolve technical issues encountered on site.
Verify that all mechanical works are completed according to project requirements before proceeding to testing and commissioning.
Conduct regular site inspections to evaluate project progress, workmanship quality, and safety compliance.
Monitor manpower utilization, equipment deployment, and material availability.
Coordinate daily site activities with installation teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Identify project risks and recommend corrective actions to prevent delays.
Coordinate mechanical inspections, testing, and commissioning activities with the Testing & Commissioning Team.
Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues identified during testing.
Ensure all punch list items are completed before project turnover.
Participate in project acceptance inspections and client handover activities.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly accomplishment reports.
Maintain project documentation, including:
Installation reports
Site inspection reports
Material monitoring reports
Progress reports
Engineering correspondence
Punch lists
As-built documentation
Monitor project status and submit updates to Management.
Ensure compliance with Company Quality Management Systems, engineering standards, and project specifications.
Promote adherence to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations and Company safety policies.
Conduct toolbox meetings and safety inspections as required.
Report unsafe conditions, project risks, and quality concerns to Management.
Serve as the engineering representative for assigned projects.
Coordinate project updates, inspections, and site requirements with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Address technical inquiries and provide engineering support throughout project implementation.
Maintain professional working relationships with project stakeholders.
Recommend process improvements to enhance project efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Participate in technical training, engineering seminars, and Company development programs.
Support Management in achieving departmental goals and operational excellence.
Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation activities.
Conduct site inspections and recommend corrective actions.
Coordinate project schedules with internal teams and clients.
Prepare engineering reports and project documentation.
Recommend engineering solutions for project-related concerns.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Licensed Mechanical Engineer is preferred.
At least 2-3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, construction, elevator, escalator, MEP, or related projects.
Fresh graduates with exceptional academic performance and strong technical aptitude may also be considered.
Knowledge of elevator and escalator systems is an advantage.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and project documentation.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Willing to travel to project sites and work in field-based assignments.
Can work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
