Position Summary: The IT Technician for Retail Operations ensures the seamles daily functioning of store-level technology, point-of-sales (POS) systems, and administrative hardware. This Entry-level role is tailored for fresh graduates or vocational graduates who want to apply their technical skills in a fast-paced retail and supermarket environment. You will serve as the on-the-ground technical support for cashiers, sales floor supervisors, and back-office administrative staff, keeping checkout lanes moving and store operations running without technical interruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Retail POS and Checkout Support
- Provide immediate, frontline technical support for front-end checkout lanes, POS terminals, barcode scanners, receipt printers, and cash drawers.
- Troubleshoot transaction slowdowns, hardware disconnects, and peripheral failures to minimize customer wait times.
- Assist with daily closing routines, POS software syncs, and end-of-day register data verification.
- Administrative and Office IT Support- Set up, configure, and maintain desktop workstations, laptops, and printers used by administrative, HR, and inventory control teams.
- Resolve basic software glitches and other productivity tool errors for office and floor staff.
Qualifications an Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of a Vocational/ Technical course in IT, Computer Technology, Electronics, or a Bachelor's Degree in Informaion Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Fresh Graduates and entry-level applicants with hands-on school projects or basic troubleshooting backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Technical Competencies
- Basic understanding of PC hardware assembly, peripheral installation, and standard desktop troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Google Workspace, POS systems) and basic productivity software.
- Basic networking knowledge (Ethernet cabling Wi-Fi configuration, IP addressing, and router troubleshooting).
- Preferred (bonus): Basic exposure to Point-of-Sale (POS)systems barcode scanning hardware, or inventory management terminals.
Soft Skills
- Calm under pressure, during urgent store-floor or checkout queue issues during peak and high volume hours.
- Customer-centric attitude with strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical cashiers and department staff patiently.
- Resourceful problem-solver with high eagerness to learn retail-specific enterpise systems.
Working Conditions
- On-site retail environment requiring physical mobility across sales floors, checkout lanes, and administrative offices.
- May require shifting schedules, weekend work, or holiday support aligned with supermatket operating hours.
- Ability to lift and carry IT equipment, monitors, and peripherals.
