Job summary

SM Retail, Inc. - Corporate is seeking an Inventory Accounting Leader to oversee all inventory-related accounting processes and supervise the inventory accounting team.

The role ensures accuracy of records, policy compliance, and alignment with financial reporting standards. The ideal candidate has a BS Accountancy or related degree, 3+ years of accounting experience (1+ in inventory/cost), and hands-on ERP experience (SAP/Oracle).

Qualifications

• BS Accountancy or related course required.
• Minimum 3 years progressive accounting experience; at least 1 year in inventory or cost accounting.
• Solid understanding of inventory management, costing methods, and financial reporting.
• Hands-on ERP experience (SAP/Oracle or equivalent).
• Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily inventory accounting operations, including stock movements, transfers, and adjustments.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of inventory transactions in the ERP system.
• Review and reconcile inventory accounts, including cycle counts and physical inventory results.
• Analyze inventory variances, shrinkage, and COGS; provide actionable insights.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Operations to resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare inventory-related schedules, reports, and analyses for management and auditors.
• Implement and maintain internal controls over inventory processes to ensure compliance.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance.

• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of inventory transactions in the ERP system.
• Review and reconcile inventory accounts, including cycle counts and physical inventory results.
• Analyze inventory variances, shrinkage, and cost of goods sold, providing actionable insights.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Warehouse, and Operations teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare inventory-related schedules, reports, and analyses for management and auditors.

• Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of staff under supervision.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of BS Accountancy or any related course
• Minimum of 3 years’ progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year focused on inventory or cost accounting.
• Solid understanding of inventory management, costing methods, and financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Background in manufacturing, retail, or distribution industry is an advantage.
