Job Description
The Inventory Accountant is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role ensures proper valuation of inventory, supports internal controls, and provides timely reports to support operational and financial decision‑making.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and issuances
- Monitor inventory levels and reconcile physical counts with system records
- Conduct periodic inventory audits and assist in cycle counts and year‑end physical inventory
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances
- Ensure proper costing and valuation of inventory (FIFO, weighted average, etc.
- Prepare inventory reports, including aging, movement, and turnover analysis
- Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, and operations teams regarding inventory concerns
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
- Assist in month‑end and year‑end closing related to inventory account.
- Maintain documentation for audit purposes and support internal/external audits.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
- Proven experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or related role
- Knowledge of accounting principles and inventory management systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- CPA is an advantage
- Experience in manufacturing, retail, or distribution industry
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
