Overview
A food attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service in restaurants, cafeterias, fast food outlets, hotels, and other dining establishments.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly manner.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Serve food and drinks to customers promptly.
- Ensure tables are clean and properly set before and after service.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests professionally.
- Operate cash registers and process payments when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dining areas, utensils, and equipment.
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist kitchen staff when required, such as refilling supplies or plating food.
- Monitor food and beverage stock levels and report shortages.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and orders.
- Teamwork and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (preferred but can be trained).
- Previous experience in food service is an advantage but not always required.
Work Environment & Schedule
- May work in restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, or fast food establishments.
- Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires standing for long periods and occasionally lifting trays or supplies.
