Qualifications

The Company Nurse (Occupational Health Nurse) is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of employees by delivering quality occupational health services, administering first aid and emergency care, managing the Company's Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) administration, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, and implementing employee wellness initiatives. The role also provides health-related administrative support to the Human Resources Department and serves as a backup resource for the Company's HMO account operations when business needs require.

JOB KEY RESPONSBILITIES
1. Employee Health Services
  • Provide first aid treatment, emergency medical care, and immediate response to workplace injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies.

  • Conduct initial health assessments and determine appropriate treatment, monitoring, referrals, or emergency interventions.

  • Monitor and document employees' vital signs, symptoms, treatments, and medical observations.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments within the scope of professional nursing practice.

  • Respond to employee health concerns and provide medical guidance, counseling, and health education.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential medical records in accordance with applicable data privacy laws and company policies.

  • Coordinate pre-employment, annual, and return-to-work medical examinations, including fit-to-work assessments and medical clearances.

  • Coordinate referrals to hospitals, clinics, or medical specialists when necessary.

2. HMO Administration
  • Manage the Company's HMO program, including:

    • Enrollment of newly hired employees.

    • Removal of separated employees.

    • Updating employee and dependent information.

  • Coordinate with HMO providers regarding:

    • Letters of Authorization (LOAs)

    • Membership concerns

    • Card issuance and replacement

    • Medical availments

    • Reimbursements and benefit utilization

  • Assist employees with HMO inquiries and concerns while ensuring timely resolution.

  • Conduct regular HMO audits to ensure accurate, complete, and updated records.

  • Prepare HMO utilization reports and analyze health trends to support employee wellness initiatives.

3. Occupational Health & Safety Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Philippine labor laws, DOLE Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards, and other applicable health regulations.

  • Maintain medical treatment logs, clinic records, incident reports, and other statutory documentation.

  • Participate in workplace safety inspections and recommend corrective and preventive measures to minimize occupational risks.

  • Assist in workplace accident and incident investigations involving employee health or safety.

  • Monitor workplace health hazards and collaborate with HR and Safety Officers on preventive measures.

  • Manage clinic operations, including inventory of medicines, medical supplies, emergency equipment, and first aid kits.

  • Prepare health reports and regulatory documentation required by management and government agencies.

4. Employee Health & Wellness Programs
  • Plan, organize, and implement workplace health and wellness initiatives, including:

    • Vaccination drives

    • Flu vaccination programs

    • Annual health screenings

    • Mental Health Awareness activities

    • Nutrition and healthy lifestyle campaigns

    • Stress management and wellness programs

  • Conduct health education sessions promoting disease prevention and healthy living.

  • Provide medical support during company events and employee engagement activities.

  • Partner with HR and Employee Engagement teams to develop preventive healthcare programs based on employee health trends.

5. HR & Administrative Support
  • Review and validate medical certificates, sick leave documents, and fit-to-work clearances.

  • Provide professional recommendations regarding health-related attendance concerns when appropriate.

  • Support HR in employee relations matters involving medical or occupational health considerations.

  • Assist in preparing documentation related to workplace incidents and employee health cases.

6. HMO Account Support (Backup CSR/Trainer)

When required by business operations, serve as the designated backup for the Customer Service Representative (CSR) and Trainer supporting the Company's HMO account.

Responsibilities include:

  • Handle member inquiries regarding HMO benefits, eligibility, coverage, provider networks, claims, and healthcare services while maintaining excellent customer service.

  • Assist members with HMO processes, including benefit verification, Letters of Authorization (LOAs), and other account-related concerns.

  • Accurately document customer interactions and maintain records in accordance with client and company standards.

  • Deliver onboarding, refresher, and upskilling training for HMO account personnel during periods of operational need.

  • Assist in developing and updating training materials, knowledge articles, and process documentation.

  • Provide coaching and subject matter guidance to Customer Service Representatives on healthcare-related topics and HMO procedures.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Training, HR, and the HMO provider to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

  • Perform these responsibilities only on an as-needed basis and without materially affecting the primary responsibilities of the Company Nurse.

7. Ad Hoc Duties

The Company Nurse may be assigned limited and occasional administrative responsibilities during periods of increased operational requirements, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing Certificates of Employment (COEs) using approved company templates, subject to HR review.

  • Assisting with employment verification requests in coordination with HR.

  • Supporting HR with administrative documentation and employee records as assigned.

  • Performing other duties reasonably related to occupational health services, clinic administration, employee wellness programs, and incidental HR administrative support.

These responsibilities are administrative support functions only and do not include recruitment decision-making, employee discipline, policy-making, or other managerial HR functions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license.

  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid.

  • Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) certification is preferred.

  • At least one (1) to three (3) years of experience in occupational health, company clinic operations, corporate healthcare, or a related clinical setting.

  • Experience in HMO administration and employee healthcare coordination is highly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Philippine labor laws, DOLE Occupational Safety and Health Standards, and workplace health regulations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical record systems.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, sound clinical judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
