Job summary

The Back Room Limited is seeking a detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to join our offshore annual compliance team in the Philippines. You’ll take ownership of preparing complete, organised annual accounting and tax compliance packs so our NZ clients’ accountants can work efficiently.

Within 90 days you’ll demonstrate independent packing of routine files, proactive follow‑ups for missing documents, and a clear handover to the drafter, enabling smooth year‑end processes and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in bookkeeping, accounting support or preparation of accounting workpapers.
• Comfortable using Xero and Excel, and able to learn practice software and file-management procedures.
• Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work across multiple client jobs.
• Clear written communication, confidence requesting information from clients and willingness to follow up.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organise annual compliance job files per checklist; information named, saved and easy to follow.
• Download Inland Revenue tax records and other client information required for annual compliance.
• Set up and prepare Xero Workpapers, attaching documents and highlighting missing items.
• Roll forward manual workpapers and schedules; update prior-year balances.
• Roll forward financial statements and standard company or trustee resolutions.
• Create draft income tax returns and client reporting letters using approved templates.
• Identify missing client documents early and maintain a clear record of outstanding items.
• Provide a clear handover to the drafter with a preparation checklist and outstanding items.
• Tools & System Used: Xero; Xero Workpapers; Excel and Word; Xero Practice Manager; Inland Revenue / myIR; document-management system.
