The Duty Officer is responsible for overseeing andcontrolling day-to-day airport operations on shift basis to ensure smooth, safeand efficient flight handling in accordance with Salamair procedures,regulatory requirements and service standards. The role acts as a focal pointfor operational coordination, disruption handling and real-time decision makingat the station.
Duties andResponsibilities:
- Monitor and control all operational activitiesduring the shift including check-in, boarding, arrivals, ramp coordination,safety and security in accordance with laid down procedures;
- Supervise and support Airport ServicesSupervisors, agents and Ground Handling Agents to ensure efficient passengerprocessing and on-time performance;
- Act as the primary point of contact foroperational matters during the shift andin absence of Airport Service Manager represent SalamAir with airportauthorities, service providers and internal departments;
- Coordinate with IOCC, Network Planning,Revenue Management and Flight Operations for effective handling of disruptions,delays and service recovery;
- Ensure timely implementation of recovery plansduring disruptions and keep all stakeholders informed;
- Conduct shift briefings and debriefings tocommunicate operational priorities, safety requirements and serviceexpectations;
- Monitor resource deployment includingmanpower, equipment and facilities to ensure optimal utilization andoperational efficiency;
- Ensure compliance with SalamAir policies,Ground Operations Manual, safety standards and regulatory requirements at alltimes;
- Ensure all manuals, circulars and advisoriesare communicated and available to relevant personnel;
- Oversee passenger handling activitiesincluding special services, baggage handling, boarding, ramp and load controlprocesses to ensure service quality standards are met;
- Monitor and control passenger flow, queuemanagement and coordination with airport stakeholders including immigration,security and terminal operations;
- Ensure all incidents, accidents, operationalirregularities and safety hazards are reported through Centrik systems andassist in investigations as required;
- Maintain continuous liaison with allstakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of turnaround activities andadherence to schedules;
- Ensure proper grooming standards, disciplineand professional conduct of all staff during the shift;
- Promote SalamAir image and maintain highstandards of customer service at all times;
- Monitor performance of Ground Handling Agentsand service providers against agreed SGHA, SLAs and ensure compliance;
- Ensure adherence to baggage handlingprocedures and oversee resolution of baggage irregularities;
- Validate operational reports including flighthandling, delays, disruptions, SSA, SEC and ensure timely submission toSalamAir HQ;
- Identify operational risks, unsafe practicesor conditions and ensure corrective and preventive actions are taken in linewith SMS requirements;
- Control operational costs during the shift andensure efficient utilization of resources in line with company objectives;
- Ensure compliance with safety and securitystandards in accordance with AOSP Chapter 3.4and 14.13 ;
- Perform any other duties as assigned by theline manager.
Requirements
- TheDuty Officer should have sound knowledge of Ground Services functions andairport operations with the ability to manage real-time operational scenariosand disruptions.
- A Diploma/Graduate inany discipline from any recognized University or minimum 05 years experience inAviation of which at least 02 years must be in a supervisory role in GroundServices functions and Operations.
- Should be well versed with airportoperations, disruption handling and stakeholder coordination.
- Should possessstrong leadership, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of SMS program is essential. World tracer and Load sheetqualifications will be an added advantage.
