Job summary

Hynds is seeking a Yard & Customer Service team member in Palmerston North to act as the engine room of the branch, balancing front-counter service with yard duties. You’ll keep the yard safe, stocked, and tidy, operate the forklift, and assist customers across civil, water, wastewater and drainage industries to ensure repeat business.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you’ll thrive on a well-run yard and a job done right.

Qualifications

• Ability to switch between front counter and yard duties.
• Proficient in stock control, order picking and cycle counts.
• Operate forklift safely and perform daily checks.

Responsibilities

• Split days between front counter and yard tasks.
• Run the yard: stock control, picking orders, cycle counts.
• Operate forklift safely and perform checks and maintenance.
• Load/unload trucks and assist customers.
• Process quotes, orders and queries on the spot.
• Keep paperwork accurate and up to date.
• Lead health & safety and secure the site.
