Job summary

Pathways Health Ltd in Hamilton is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our women’s crisis respite service. You will walk alongside tāngata whaiora to rest, restore and maintain wellbeing within a therapeutic environment.

This permanent, full-time role offers afternoon-evening shifts Friday to Monday, with 3:00pm–11:30pm, and benefits including five weeks annual leave, two wellbeing days, and a yearly wellness card to support you and your whānau.

Qualifications

• Trauma-informed care and culturally safe approaches are valued.
• NZCHW Level 4 or equivalent is preferred; study within six months and completion within two years.
• Must hold a current full NZ driver’s licence.
• Must hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
• Knowledge of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and right to work in NZ are required.

Responsibilities

• Rest, restore and maintain wellbeing for tāngata whaiora in a safe environment.
• Walk alongside individuals to set and achieve personal goals.
• Provide practical support with daily living (cooking, shopping, budgeting, routines).
• Encourage participation in community, work, study and social activities.
• Support therapeutic interventions and wellbeing practices as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and collaborate with whānau, health and social services.
• Uphold Pathways’ values with trauma-informed, culturally safe practice.

As a Support Worker,you’llwalk alongside tāngatawhaiorain a women’s crisis respite service, supporting them to relax, restore, and recover in a therapeutic environment.

This is a permanent, full-time role, based in Hamilton, with shifts on Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday, from 3:00pm to 11:30pm.

In the role, you will:

• Support tāngata whaiora to rest, restore and maintain wellbeing in safe environments
• Walk alongside people to set and achieve their personal goals
• Provide practical support with daily living (cooking, shopping, budgeting, healthy routines)
• Encourage participation in community, work, study, and social activities
• Support therapeutic interventions and wellbeing practices as needed
• Maintain accurate records and collaborate with whānau, health and social services
• Uphold Pathways’ values by working in a trauma-informed, culturally safe way
• Preferred applicants who hold the level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent. Alternatively, you will be willing to commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. Pathways offer significant support to complete this study.
• You must hold a current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
• You must hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
• Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the articles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• You must have the right to work in New Zealand
