Job summary

New Zealand Government in Hamilton, NZ is seeking a Part Time Statutory Process Support Officer to assist the Statutory Process Team with permissions applications. The role is fixed term until 30 June 2027, offering a 35-hour workweek in the Hamilton CBD and exposure to high-scrutiny workflows.

The successful candidate will be an experienced administrator with strong customer service, be tech-savvy, and capable of collaborating with diverse stakeholders while learning statutory conservation

About the role

We are looking for a technical administration star to support our Statutory Process Team (SPT) with the capture of all Permissions applications received from across New Zealand. These range from the construction of shared cycle paths, to catching and handling our native kiwi, through to the filming of movies and commercials you see on TV. It's a fast-paced role in a high-scrutiny environment, in a motivated team with changing priorities and complex workloads. You'll need to be confident solving issues under pressure while collaborating with the team and more widely. This is a chance to build your profile, gain exposure to different aspects of our work. You'll work alongside senior staff who make decisions that support DOC's vision of nature thriving in Aotearoa and develop skills that will position you strongly for future opportunities.


Skills and experience


  • Experienced administrator with top-notch customer service

  • Tech savvy, and able to learn new systems and use them confidently

  • Competent in Microsoft Office programs for document management

  • Be a great communicator, both oral and written, as you'll be responding to (at times tricky) enquiries by email from both internal and external stakeholders

  • A collaborator, and enjoys working in team environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • A background in technical administration or statutory processes with an interest in conservation is beneficial

  • Understanding or willingness to learn Māori tikanga and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how it relates to your work

Statutory Process Support Officer (Part Time) (Fixed Term) Hamilton, Waikato, NZ

Salary: $65,590-$76,589 (pro rata). We anticipate appointing at $65,590 (pro rata) for this role.


Eligibility: You must hold a valid New Zealand work visa that covers the duration of employment.
