Qualifications

  • A background in technical administration or statutory processes with an interest in conservation is beneficial.
  • Understanding or willingness to learn Māori tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how it relates to your work.

Job description

**Mō te tūranga | About the role** We are looking for a technical administration star to support our Statutory Process Team (SPT) with the capture of all Permissions applications received from across New Zealand. These range from the construction of shared cycle paths, to catching and handling our native kiwi, through to the filming of movies and commercials you see on TV. It’s a fast-paced role in a high-scrutiny environment, in a motivated team with changing priorities and complex workloads. You’ll need to be confident solving issues under pressure while collaborating with the team and more widely. This is a chance to build your profile, gain exposure to different aspects of our work. You’ll work alongside senior staff who make decisions that support DOC’s vision of nature thriving in Aotearoa and develop skills that will position you strongly for future opportunities. This is a 35 hours per week, fixed term role until 30 June 2027 to provide cover to the team while the incumbent is on secondment. The role is part of a small, tight-knit, office-based team in Hamilton CBD and is not directly customer facing.
