Job summary

Department of Conservation - Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) in Napier is seeking a Site Support Officer for a 0.5 FTE, part-time role supporting a busy regional office. The role provides essential admin, fleet and facilities support to ensure safe and smooth operations across Hawke's Bay.

You will manage general office tasks, assist the Site Lead, coordinate vehicle maintenance, and contribute to health and safety activities while negotiating working days to suit you and the office needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in broad administration support, facility or fleet management.
• Experience in general office management, including record-keeping, scheduling, and day-to-day operations.
• Detail-oriented problem solver with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with ease.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Tech-savvy and an early adopter of new systems and technologies.
• Ability to coordinate tasks and follow through on site-related issues to completion.
• You bring a proactive approach and a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for more efficient ways to get things done.
• An understanding of workplace health and safety practices (or willingness to learn)

Responsibilities

• Being the go-to person for general office management
• Supporting the Site Lead to ensure smooth and safe operation of DOC premises, acting as the main site contact for office and facility issues
• Ensuring DOC pool vehicles at site are fit for purpose and maintained as required (such as services and WOFs etc)
• Support key site health and safety tasks such as safety/fire drills, site inductions, regular checks and ACC safety audits
