Foodstuffs South Island is seeking an experienced checkout supervisor to support the Checkout Manager and team in delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate has checkout experience, Lotto training, and a calm, confident manner under pressure; you will train staff, handle customer enquiries, and help promote health and safety.

This full-time role covers Tuesday to Saturday with some evenings; applications close 18 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience in checkout and customer service in a busy retail or supermarket setting.
• Experience supervising and training staff is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with customer enquiries and support front-line checkout staff.
• Promote a friendly environment for customers and staff.
• Ensure sales compliance for age-restricted products such as liquor and tobacco.
• Champion health and food safety initiatives throughout the department.
