Job summary

YC Homes, an award-winning residential main contractor based in Albany, Auckland, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team. You will work closely with the Managing Director and Operations to deliver excellent QS service on high-end builds.

We value candidates with NZQF Level 7 QS qualification and 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience, plus strong cost control, Tendering and procurement skills. Join our fast-paced team to help projects stay on budget and programme.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum Quantity Surveying qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 7.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within residential or high-end residential construction.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
• Experience with CostX and Buildertrend is an advantage.
• A good understanding of New Zealand building and health & safety regulations.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction estimating, methodology, materials, construction management and programming.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete preliminary project estimations through to detailed and final cost plans.
• Prepare competitive tenders and quotations.
• Carry out material and quantity take-offs for projects.
• Source suppliers and subcontractors, obtain pricing and prepare price comparisons.
• Analyse project costs and monitor cost performance throughout each job.
• Maintain a strong understanding of different construction contracts and their applications.
• Prepare contract documents and undertake relevant project administration.
• Prepare progress payment claims and variation orders.
• Conduct site visits and assess project progress where required.
• Develop, monitor and maintain project schedules.
• Work closely with the project and operations teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget and programme.
• Manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines effectively.
