Responsibilities

• Identify and assess early identification, assessment, and tracking of diverse learners.
• Build teacher capability by designing targeted interventions and differentiated teaching.

• Foster partnerships with tamariki and whānau for collaborative support.
• Liaise with Ministry of Education Learning Support and external agencies to secure resourcing.
• Contribute to school planning and resource allocation with Te Tiriti o Waitangi in mind.

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in identifying student needs, strengthening teacher capability, and fostering an inclusive, culturally responsive environment across our school. As a Normal School, you will also help shape and influence future educators by modelling effective learning support practices for student teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess: Support the early identification, assessment, and tracking of students with additional learning, neurodiverse, and behavioural needs.
• Build teacher capability: Work alongside teachers and learning assistants to design targeted interventions, adapt learning environments, and model effective, differentiated teaching strategies.
• Coordinate support: Coordinate targeted interventions and support smooth student transitions.
• Foster partnerships: Build strong, authentic relationships with tamariki and whānau to ensure collaborative, transparent educational support.
• Liaise with specialists: Act as the key liaison with Ministry of Education Learning Support, RTLB, and external specialist agencies to secure timely resourcing and wrap-around care.
• Strengthen school culture: Contribute to school-wide planning, resource allocation, and a culture of inclusion grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
