We are after someone who:
- hold current New Zealand Teacher Registration
- has a strong understanding of learning support systems in Aotearoa New Zealand
- understands Tier 2 and Tier 3 students with high and complex needs
- is confident in navigating Ministry and external support processes (ORS, IWS, HHNF, RTLB, IRF, LLI, ESOL)
- brings experience in SENCO and/or LSC roles or similar
- enjoys collaborating and working as part of a team
- is a solutions-focused, creative thinker
- is highly organised and demonstrates high levels of professionalism.
The successful applicant will:
- work with the Deputy Principal/SENCO around referrals for special needs intervention, both learning and behavioural, and determine the appropriate level of support needed
- co-lead the learning support team, providing PLD, support and feedback
- lead and facilitate Learning Assistant and staff professional training and support, while collaborating with the Deputy Principal/SENCO to design and implement IEPs, ILPs, and Individual Behaviour Plans
- attend transition meetings and co-construct transition plans
- work with the Deputy Principal/SENCO to facilitate transition of students with special needs and learning and behavioral challenges from Year 1 to Year 8
- maintain clear and consistent communication with whānau, caregivers, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support for students
- coordinate and/or assist with the preparation, delivery and evaluation of programmes to meet the needs of staff, students and whānau | families of special needs students or students with learning and behavioural challenges
- coordinate and oversee the ESOL / ELL support programme, including funding applications, assessments, and tracking progress against English Language Learning Progressions (ELLP)
- complete referrals, induction meetings, observations and follow ups as required/appropriate
- provide coaching for teachers in regard to inclusive practices.
