Job summary

Atlas Quarries in Brynderwyn is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair the quarry fleet, keeping trucks and plant running safely and efficiently. You will work in a workshop and on-site, supported by a small team, conducting servicing, diagnostics and repairs to a high NZ trades standard.

You will manage fleet maintenance schedules, source parts, and ensure job programmes are costed and aligned with safety requirements. NZ residency or a valid work visa is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a heavy diesel mechanic workshop or maintenance environment.
• Trade qualification as Heavy Diesel Mechanic.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in a workshop.
• Ability to meet maintenance schedules and job programmes.
• Ability to order parts and equipment for fleet maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain trucks to COF standard.
• Carry out maintenance, repairs and servicing of fleet vehicles and ancillary plant, including mobile jobs.
• Maintain accurate fleet maintenance schedules and servicing programmes with cost estimates.
• Order and organise parts and equipment for jobs.
• Be a committed team member and develop relationships with staff and managers.

Atlas Concrete has been in business for 70+ years, supplying ready mix concrete, pre-cast concrete, aggregate and other related supplies to the wider Auckland and Northland regions. We have 9 branches across 4 divisions; Atlas Concrete, Atlas Quarries, Mt Rex Shipping and Atlas Tilt Slab.

The main purpose of the role:

Is to ensurethattheplant and equipmentrun efficientlykeeping up with the repairs andmaintenance of a busy Quarry operation.

Carryoutthemaintenance,repairsand servicing of the company fleet of vehicles and ancillary plant and equipment, to a quality NZ Trades standard.This includes work in the workshop as well as the mobile mechanic service. Working in a close-knit team of approximately4people, you willbe responsible forall company fleet maintenancemaintainingup-to-date andaccuratevehicle management, ancillary equipment maintenance,repairand service records.Thisis ahands onrolehelping the teamwhenrequired.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Always making sure trucksaremaintainedto a COF standard
• Timely delivery of quality heavy diesel mechanical maintenance, repairs and servicing of company vehicles and associated ancillary plant equipment and including the mobile mechanic service jobs, whenrequired
• Maintainingaccurateand up-to-date fleet maintenance schedules, mobile mechanic service and servicing schedule and job programmes with cost estimates
• Order and organiseparts and equipmentrequiredtocomplete jobs and maintenance
• Be a committed,hard-workingand dedicated team member, developing relationships with all staff and managers

Key requirements for the role are:

• Experience working in a heavy diesel mechanic workshop / maintenance servicing environment
• Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with excellent mechanical diagnostic skills
• Understanding of all Health & Safety requirements in a workshop
• Ability to carry out mechanical work and meet maintenance schedules / job programmes
• Take ownership of tasks and follow through to ensure jobs are completed to a high standard
• Knowledge and experience ordering the range of parts and equipment for fleet maintenance
• Customer focused withvery goodcommunication skills (verbal and written)
• CurrentTruck licence

Personal attributes and skills:

You will be organised and action-oriented, withthe ability to plan and prioritise tasks and take pride in your work. Being a positive and committedteammember along with excellent communication skills is essential – written, verbal and listening.

Hours:

Monday–Friday:7:00am – 5:00pm

Saturday:7:00am – 12:00pm(although not every Saturdayrequired)

Pay:

$36-$40 p/h depending on experience

Note: Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and arerequiredto pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. On-going random drug testing is carried out.
