Job summary

Tradestaff in Dunedin is seeking a trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic or experienced Mechanic for a hands-on, workshop-based role. You’ll service, maintain and repair heavy diesel equipment used across the logging and contracting sectors, with a focus on fault finding and preventative maintenance. Location: Central Dunedin; Start date by arrangement.

Pay rate: $38–$42 per hour, paid weekly. This long-term opportunity offers a diverse workload, a supportive team and stable workshop employment

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy diesel equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• A commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Self-motivation and strong time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy diesel equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Complete workshop repairs and breakdown maintenance as required
• Conduct inspections and identify maintenance requirements
• Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
• Work collaboratively with the wider maintenance and operations teams

Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Are you a trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic or experienced Mechanic looking for your next opportunity? The Role
