Job summary

Sime Motors invites applications for a Truckstops Tauranga technician role. You’ll diagnose and repair heavy trucks, perform routine maintenance and inspections, and work with seasoned pros while mentoring apprentices.

A strong safety mindset and Class 5 licensing help you excel in a fast-paced, facility-wide environment. Based at the new Truckstops Tauranga branch, you’ll contribute to high-quality workmanship and LEAN practices, with opportunities for career progression within the SimeMotors

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with heavy-duty trucks.

• NZQA LV4 or higher in relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with diagnostic tools.
• Conduct routine maintenance, servicing and inspections on trucks.
• Collaborate with experienced pros and mentor apprentices

About the Role

Our brand-new custom built Truckstops Tauranga branch is now open, purpose-designed to deliver faster, better service for our truck customers. With a dedicated COF lane, two 26 litre fully equipped service pits and 8 repair lanes; this modern facility gives our team the space and tools to work efficiently and deliver the high-quality workmanship we’re known for.

Reporting to the Service Foreman, you'll:

• diagnose and repair mechanical issues using cutting-edge diagnostic tools
• conduct routine maintenance, service, and inspections to keep our trucks performing at their best
• collaborate with experienced pros and mentor apprentices
• adopt LEAN principles, champion Health & Safety, and uphold our Values
• continuously grow your own skills.

• A strong commitment to safety and a proactive mindset
• Excellent problem-solving skills to tackle challenges head-on
• Ideally, a Class 5 license (we can help you get it!)
• NZQA LV4 in Heavy Road Transport or Heavy Plant & Equipment
• Reliability and willingness to commit to the team
