Job summary

Atlas Concrete, based in Riverhead, Auckland, requires an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to keep our fleet in peak condition. The role involves workshop and mobile servicing, ensuring COF compliance and efficient operation across a busy fleet supporting Auckland and Northland regions.

You will join a close-knit team of around eight, work on maintenance schedules, order parts, and maintain service records, with a focus on quality workmanship and safety compliance in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy diesel mechanic workshop/maintenance environment.
• Trade qualification as Heavy Diesel Mechanic with strong diagnostic skills.
• Understanding of Health & Safety requirements in a workshop.
• Ability to perform mechanical work and meet maintenance schedules to high standards.
• Experience ordering parts and equipment for fleet maintenance.
• Customer-focused with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Current truck licence is required.

• Maintain company fleet to COF standards and ensure reliability.
• Perform timely repairs and servicing of vehicles and ancillary plant.
• Maintain up-to-date fleet maintenance schedules and job programmes with cost estimates.

The team at Atlas Concrete, located in Riverhead, require an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join their team.

Atlas Concrete has been in business for 70+ years, supplying ready mix concrete, pre-cast concrete, aggregate and other related supplies to the wider Auckland and Northland regions. We have 9 branches across 4 divisions; Atlas Concrete, Atlas Quarries, Mt Rex Shipping and Atlas Tilt Slab.

The main purpose of the role

Is to ensure that the plant and equipment run efficiently keeping up with the repairs and maintenance of a busy fleet operation.

Carry out the maintenance, repairs and servicing of the company fleet of vehicles and ancillary plant and equipment to a quality NZ Trades standard. This includes work in the workshop as well as the mobile mechanic service. Working in a close-knit team of approximately 8 people, you will be responsible for all mobile company fleet maintenance, maintaining up-to-date and accurate vehicle management, ancillary equipment maintenance, repair and service records.

Key responsibilities of the role include

• Always making sure trucks are maintained to a COF standard
• Timely delivery of quality heavy diesel mechanical maintenance, repairs and servicing of company vehicles and associated ancillary plant equipment and including the mobile mechanic service jobs, when required
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date fleet maintenance schedules, mobile mechanic service and servicing schedule and job programmes with cost estimates
• Order and organise parts and equipment required to complete jobs and maintenance
• Be a committed, hard-working and dedicated team member, developing relationships with all staff and managers

Key requirements for the role are

• Experience working in a heavy diesel mechanic workshop / maintenance servicing environment
• Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with excellent mechanical diagnostic skills
• Understanding of all Health & Safety requirements in a workshop
• Ability to carry out mechanical work and meet maintenance schedules / job programmesTake ownership of tasks and follow through to ensure jobs are completed to a high standard
• Knowledge and experience ordering the range of parts and equipment for fleet maintenance
• Customer focused with very good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Current truck licence

You will be organised and action-oriented, with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks and take pride in your work. Being a positive and committed team leader along with excellent communication skills is essential – written, verbal and listening.

Hours

Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 5:00pm

Saturday: 7:00am – 12:00pm (although not every Saturday required)

Pay

$36-40 p/h depending on experience

Note

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and are required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. On-going random drug testing is carried out.
