Job summary

Waste Management New Zealand is seeking a Despatch Coordinator to connect customer service, operations and drivers. You will coordinate daily job allocations, monitor routes and respond quickly when plans change, keeping customers informed with clear communication.

This fast-paced role requires calm decision-making and strong organisational skills. Office-based, 40 hours per week, with competitive rates and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service or coordination experience.
• Experience in transport, logistics or similar operational environment.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure.
• Excellent time-management and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily job allocations and callout work.
• Monitor rolled, rejected and delayed jobs and take prompt action.
• Communicate with customers regarding delays, service issues and changes.
• Review routes and assist with sequencing to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Work closely with drivers, operations, sales and customer service teams.
• Manage correspondence and respond within agreed service levels.
• Complete financial confirmations and investigate pricing, disposal-rate and weight exceptions.
• Support reporting, purchase orders, data entry, weighbridge lodgements and end-of-month activities.
• Help achieve our delivery-in-full, on-time targets.
• Identify opportunities to improve fuel efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint.
