Job summary

Hireace is seeking a Customer Service & Vehicle Rental Assistant to join our Tauranga and Mt Maunganui branches. Two full-time fixed-term positions exist through to March 2027, with one role potentially becoming permanent.

You will be the first point of contact for customers, helping them find the right rental solution and delivering exceptional service. You will greet customers, process bookings, inspect vehicles, manage payments, and explain rental terms and options.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of customer service experience.
• Ability to handle multiple enquiries calmly under pressure.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in a warm, professional manner and identify rental requirements.
• Process vehicle rental bookings and answer customer enquiries accurately.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and complete condition reports.
• Handle payments and transactions securely using point-of-sale systems.
• Provide detailed information on available vehicles, terms, insurance options and policies.
• Address customer concerns with empathy and professionalism, aiming for resolutions.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions and rental transactions.
• Assist with vehicle preparation and cleaning as needed.
• Support team during peak periods to ensure efficient service.

About the role
We are seeking a Customer Service & Vehicle Rental Assistant to join our team in Tauranga and Mt Maunganui Branches. There are two full-time positions available, for a fixed term until the end of March 2027, one of these roles will have the opportunity to become permanent.

Youwill play a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service and supporting the smooth operation of our vehicle rental services. You will be the first point of contact for many of our customers, making your contribution vital to their experience and satisfaction. This role offers the opportunity to develop valuable customer service skills whilst working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers in a warm and professional manner, providing initial assistance and understanding their vehicle rental requirements
• Process vehicle rental bookings and manage customer enquiries accurately and efficiently
• Conduct vehicle inspections and document condition reports, ensuring all paperwork is completed thoroughly
• Handle customer payments and process transactions securely using point-of-sale systems
• Provide customers with detailed information about available vehicles, rental terms, insurance options and company policies
• Address customer concerns and complaints with empathy and professionalism, working towards satisfactory resolutions
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and rental transactions
• Assist with vehicle preparation and cleaning when required
• Support the team during peak periods to ensure efficient service delivery
• Uphold company policies and procedures at all times, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment

What we're looking for

• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers from diverse backgrounds
• Excellent customer service experience, ideally in a fast-paced customer-facing environment
• Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure whilst managing multiple enquiries
• Sound organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail
• Basic computer literacy and proficiency with point-of-sale or booking systems (training provided)
• A positive attitude, reliability and commitment to delivering high-quality service
• Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and willingness to support colleagues
• Valid driver's licence and clean driving record
• Ability to work full-time and flexibility with shift patterns as required by the business

Preferred qualifications and experience

• Previous experience in vehicle rental, hospitality or customer service roles
• Knowledge of vehicle classes and specifications
• Experience with rental or booking management systems
