A leading sustainable hotel group in Amsterdam is seeking a Reservations Intern. In this role, you will handle guest inquiries through phone and email, check new reservations, and prepare group quotations. The ideal candidate is proactive, has strong communication skills, and is a student in hotel or tourism studies. The internship offers hands-on experience in a modern Reservations Department and includes a monthly allowance of €800–950, depending on the internship duration.

Job description

We are Conscious Group, we offer the most sustainable stay and a seamless guest experience in a fun atmosphere. We have 5 sustainable hotels, an organic restaurants and coffee bars within Conscious Hotels, and together with Hotel V & The Lobby we have grown to a total of 9 hotels and 2 restaurants. Now, Conscious Group is looking for a Reservations Intern! Sounds like something for you? Read on!

Through the Reservations Department, the journey of our guests already starts; they get to know our hotel for the first time (personally) through our enthusiastic Agents, making them feel welcome and knowing they are at the right place. Our Agents are not only pleasant to communicate with but also have a lot of knowledge and organizational skills! They take care of the guests at all Conscious hotels & Hotel V locations; they answer their questions, help to make the best hotel reservations and are happy to arrange any extra requests. But did you know that they also organize the groups to perfection before handing over the baton to operations? And often in combination with each other? There is dancing during a company party at Bar Kantoor or guests even say "I do" and then have an overnight stay with the whole group and talk about it the next morning at breakfast.

You see, our agents are experts in all fields and they love to pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation. So will you come and do an internship with us?

A day in the life of...

As an intern you will participate in the daily operations of the Reservations Department. In a short time you will gain a lot of knowledge and a clear picture of how the department works. Besides learning, you will therefore really contribute to the experience of our guests! You will do this by:

• Answering the phone, email and chat, making you the first point of contact for guests who want to book a room in one of the hotels or want to organize a meeting or event;
• Daily checking the new reservations received, processing payments and arranging special requests in no time;
• Preparing quotations for small and large group requests (and being in close contact with the revenue department) and taking on the role of permanent contact person for the booker to be able to fully process the group yourself;
• Dealing with complaints - unfortunately they do happen, but you will know exactly how to deal with them.

What else?

Besides the guest contact and organizational aspect you will learn in the Reservations Department (you don't just have to get coffee here...) you will have to deal with:

• Working with our modern PMS system MEWS;
• Getting an inside look at backends of OTAs;
• Developing your professional skills;
• Attending monthly team meetings and having bilateral meetings with your internship supervisor;
• Having your internship at one of the most sustainable hotel chains in the Netherlands.

Your skills:

• Hospitality is in your DNA: you are able to connect;
• You are proactive, stress-resistant and challenging yourself;
• You have commercial thinking;
• You are a social person;
• You have affinity with organic and sustainable trends.

What do we need from you?

• Your internship lasts at least 6 months on a full-time or part-time basis;
• Preferably, once every two weeks, a day available in the weekend;
• You are a student in the direction of hotel school, tourism or other related education;
• You speak and write English fluently (Dutch is a plus); you have strong communication skills;
• You have knowledge of Google Workspace (Microsoft Office).
