We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Clearance and Yard Management Specialist to oversee vehicle import customs declarations, yard operations, and compliance management across key European markets. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient customs clearance, optimized yard logistics, and strict adherence to the regulatory requirements of Germany, France, Hungary, and Spain.
About the Role
The Clearance and Yard Management Specialist will manage customs declarations and yard operations across multiple locations in Europe, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end customs declarations for vehicle imports in the EU (including Germany’s ATLAS, France’s Delta, Hungary’s EDI, and Spain’s DUA systems), ensuring accurate payment of duties and VAT (e.g., IVA in Spain, TVA in France) for compliant and timely clearance.
- Oversee daily yard operations at designated locations (e.g., Barcelona/Algeciras in Spain, key logistics hubs in Germany, France, and Hungary), optimizing processes for vehicle receipt, parking, relocation, and dispatch.
- Perform inbound vehicle inspections (VIN verification, document checks, physical condition), and maintain up-to-date digital vehicle records with real-time status tracking across all regions.
- Coordinate outbound processes based on dealer orders, including vehicle cleaning, Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), and delivery preparation to ensure swift and accurate handover.
- Resolve market-specific clearance challenges (e.g., German type approval, French COC/Certificate of Conformity, Hungarian technical standards, Spanish ECE and environmental labeling) by collaborating with technical and compliance teams.
- Ensure yard safety and regulatory compliance (e.g., local fire safety, environmental waste management, seismic regulations where applicable) and successfully pass periodic audits by national authorities in each country.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in customs clearance, yard management, or automotive logistics within the European market, with exposure to Germany, France, Hungary and/or Spain.
- Working knowledge of EU and national import regulations (e.g., German ATLAS, French Delta, Hungarian EDI, Spanish DUA) and VAT/tax requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate technical, regulatory, and certification issues across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in English and at least one other European language (e.g., German, French, Spanish, or Hungarian).
- Excellent organizational and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with automotive PDI processes and digital inventory management systems.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in industrial or logistics settings within the EU.
