Job summary

The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited, based in Kuala Lumpur, seeks an Assistant Manager - Underwriting Support to lead the New Business admin team and ensure timely progression of cases. You will coach staff, manage workloads, and collaborate with intermediaries and internal stakeholders to deliver customer-focused services in a regulated environment.

Diploma or higher in related discipline with relevant insurance certifications preferred; minimum 3 years in insurance and strong MS

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Banking/Finance/Business/Accounting with relevant insurance certifications preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word).
• Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Dedicated team player with flexible time management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily operations of the New Business administrative team.
• Assign, prioritize, and balance daily workloads across the team.
• Monitor workflow queues and turnaround time to ensure timely progression of cases.
• Coach the team and handle complex transactions.
• Escalation point for operational issues and ensure prompt resolution.
• Collaborate with intermediaries and internal stakeholders to deliver customer-focused services.
• Back-up duties during team members’ absence and ad hoc tasks.
• Take accountability on business and regulatory compliance risks and mitigate risks.
• Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies to understand risk and safeguard company.
• Highlight potential concerns / risks and share risk management practices.
