Job summary

Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited in Malaysia seeks an underwriter to assess risk for new business, existing policies and reinstatements, and to determine coverage terms within defined service standards.

You will analyze medical, financial and non-medical information, liaise with specialists and reinsurers, and make decisions within approval limits while upholding our regulatory and corporate risk controls.

Qualifications

• Degree holder.
• In depth knowledge of underwriting function.
• Knowledge of medical issues and impact on mortality.
• Knowledge of financial and other non-medical underwriting factors.
• Organizational and communications skills.
• Ability to prioritize and work effectively under published time service standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs prudent underwriting of new business, existing policies and reinstatement of lapsed policies within expected response time set.
• Manages all aspects of underwriting process, selects and classifies risk according to company philosophy and standards.
• Analyzes and interprets medical, non-medical and financial information.
• Makes decisions within approval limits and determines appropriate requirements.
• Liaises with Specialists inclusive of Reinsurers to gather information and opinions.
