The Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited, based in Kuala Lumpur, seeks an Assistant Manager - Underwriting Support to lead the New Business admin team and ensure timely progression of cases. You will coach staff, manage workloads, and collaborate with intermediaries and internal stakeholders to deliver customer-focused services in a regulated environment.
Diploma or higher in related discipline with relevant insurance certifications preferred; minimum 3 years in insurance and strong MS
To lead & oversee the daily operations of the New Business administrative team
Responsibilities
Assign, prioritize, and balance daily workloads across the team
Monitor workflow queues and turnaround time to ensure timely progression of cases
To coach the team and handle complex transactions
Acts as first point of escalation for operational issues and to ensure prompt resolution
To work closely with and collaborate with intermediaries and internal stakeholders to deliver customer‑focused services to both internal and external customers.
Other duties include (but not limited to) back‑up duties during team members’ absence and other ad hoc tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks;
Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company; and
Highlights any potential concerns / risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
Requirements
Diploma holder and above in related discipline (Banking/Finance/ Business/ Accounting) with relevant insurance certifications preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry
Computer literacy with good working knowledge of MS Office (eg Excel, Word) applications.
Good interpersonal skills, customer service orientated & meticulous
Good team player with strong analytical skills & ability to work under pressure
High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork.
Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes.
Dedicated team player with strong & flexible time management to support peak period whenever required.
