Job summary

IJM Corporation Berhad in Kulim, Kedah, seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to head the mechanical technical function for semiconductor facilities, guiding design through handover. You will review designs, coordinate with clients and contractors, and ensure compliance with standards while providing technical guidance and site support.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and mechanical services, with experience in design review and multidisciplinary coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and other mechanical building services systems.
• Proven experience in mechanical design review, technical submissions, multidisciplinary coordination, and resolving complex engineering issues.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing facilities or mission-critical projects is an advantage.

Job description

Lead the mechanical technical function for semiconductor manufacturing facilities and mission-critical projects, from design development and review through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.

Review mechanical designs, drawings, technical submissions, and material specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, design intent, and applicable standards.

Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other disciplines to resolve technical issues, clarify design requirements, and ensure design coordination.

Provide technical guidance and engineering solutions to address design discrepancies, site technical queries, and construction challenges.

Review mechanical systems, including HVAC/ACMV, fire protection, plumbing, and other building services, to ensure design adequacy, constructability, and compliance with project specifications.

Coordinate technical submissions, design changes, material approvals, and responses to Requests for Information (RFIs).

Provide technical support during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring installed systems comply with approved designs and project requirements.

Identify potential design conflicts and technical risks, recommend practical solutions, and coordinate resolution with relevant stakeholders.

Participate in technical meetings, design coordination sessions, and project reviews to ensure alignment between design requirements and site execution.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and other mechanical building services systems.

Proven experience in mechanical design review, technical submissions, multidisciplinary coordination, and resolving complex engineering issues.

Experience in semiconductor manufacturing facilities or mission-critical projects is an advantage.

Strong understanding of construction methods, design coordination, technical compliance, and system testing and commissioning requirements.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Willing to be based full-time at the project site in Kulim, Kedah.
