Job summary

IJM Corporation Berhad is seeking an experienced Project Director to oversee a major construction program in Penang, ensuring all functions integrate to keep the project on track. You will coordinate across departments, consultants, clients, authorities and subcontractors, drive cost control, manage risk, and lead the team to achieve CPC while complying with Quality and HSE standards at all times.

The ideal candidate has 12-15 years of main-contractor experience, fast-track building projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 12–15 years of construction experience with main contractors.
• Experience in fast-track building construction, preferably Mission Critical Facilities / Semiconductors.
• Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder skills.
• Excellent cost, schedule and budget monitoring capabilities.

Job description

Oversee the entire project, providing direction, reviewing progress and ensuring all functions work together effectively to keep the project on track.

Coordinate tasks and build strong relationships among departments, consultants, clients, authorities, subcontractors and suppliers, focusing on negotiation, motivation and stakeholder expectation management.

Monitor unit costs, compare daily site progress with project estimates and review elements impacting construction risk, cost and cash flow to achieve profit targets.

Integrate diverse functions to drive process improvement and cost optimization.

Prepare and manage project budgets, track expenses, take corrective actions and provide regular project status updates.

Analyze contractual terms and provide guidance to the team on contract-related matters.

Ensure project completion within the specified timeline while maintaining compliance with quality and HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) requirements.

Adhere to the company’s Quality and HSE systems at all times.

Drive project completion and secure the Certification of Practical Completion (CPC).

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

12-15 years of construction experience with main contractors.

Experience in fast-track building construction, preferably Mission Critical Facilities / Semiconductors.

Strong construction logistics and planning skills, including developing construction program with the Planning team and resolving site challenges.

Excellent understanding of project cost, schedule, and budget monitoring.

Strong leadership, project management, stakeholders management and interpersonal skills.
