Job summary

MVC Resources, a global geotechnical contractor, seeks a senior technical leader to manage the Technical Department across multiple countries. You will guide design, provide client-facing technical solutions, and drive matters from tenders to project delivery.

The role requires a civil engineering degree, PE status (advantage), and at least 10 years of managerial geotechnical experience. Fluent English and strong leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Post-graduate degree and/or PE status is an advantage.
• Must be competent in geotechnical software (PLAXIS, Slope/W).
• Minimum 10 years in related fields; managerial experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering and Ground Improvement Technology.
• Fluent English; Malaysian citizen or valid residence status.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Hiring Manager and oversee Technical Departments across the unit.
• Be the technical focal point with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities on technical and commercial matters.
• Provide technical support throughout the sales process and during project delivery.
• Coordinate between customers, BD, engineering, operations and suppliers to clarify specs and constraints.
• Lead the Technical Departments in preparing and reviewing proposals, and contribute to tenders.
• Oversee detailed engineering designs and lead design coordination for client approvals.
• Develop and manage Technical Departments' engineers: resourcing, workload, mentoring, performance.

• Leads the Technical Department team members across the countries above.
• Supports Business Development during tenders and Operations during project delivery, on all technical and design matters.
• Gives technical support to the wider regional team as it expands into new countries.
• Prepares and reviews technical and commercial proposals for ground improvement projects using techniques

Job Description (Duties)

• Report directly to the Hring Manager and be accountable for everything handled by the Technical Departments across the business unit.
• Be the technical focal point with clients, consultants, contractors and authorities on technical and commercial matters. This includes getting reliable design parameters, preparing the best solutions and following up on proposals.
• Provide technical support throughout the sales process (meetings, presentations, technical discussions, negotiations), turning client needs into suitable technical solutions.
• Act as the technical link between customers, BD, engineering, operations and suppliers, so that specifications, scope of work, performance requirements and project constraints are clear.
• Lead the Technical Departments in preparing and reviewing technical proposals, and give technical input to commercial proposals during tenders.
• Oversee and review detailed engineering designs, and lead design coordination meetings to get timely approval from clients and consultants.
• Lead, develop and manage the Technical Departments' engineers: resourcing, workload planning, mentoring and performance management.
• Support the Operations Departments during project delivery, including:
  • detailed design submissions
  • method statements
  • instrumentation and monitoring reports
  • pre- and post-treatment testing reports
  • final technical reports
  • as-built drawings
• Carry out technical marketing: seminar presentations, exhibitions, promotional client visits, marketing materials and technical papers.
• Take on other related tasks delegated by the Business Unit Manager.
• Offer technical support to the wider regional team.

Requirements

• At least a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil).
• A post-graduate degree and/or Professional Engineer status in Geotechnical Engineering is an advantage.
• Must be competent in geotechnical software (e.g. PLAXIS, Slope/W).
• Minimum 10 years in related fields; managerial experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering and Ground Improvement Technology.
• Fluent English
• Malaysian citizen or relevant residence status.
• A good team player who can work independently with minimum supervision.
