Job summary

MINCONSULT is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in Petaling Jaya to manage site investigations, analyse soil properties and provide geotechnical solutions. The role involves coordinating projects, preparing reports and performing geotechnical design work while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

You should hold a recognised Civil Engineering degree (First Class Honours), an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering is an advantage, and have 5–9 years of geotechnical design experience.

Qualifications

• Recognized degree in Civil Engineering with First Class Honours.
• MSc in Geotechnical Engineering will be an advantage.
• Minimum 5–9 years of civil engineering experience with emphasis on geotechnical design.
• Experience in foundation design for heavy structures and bridges, slope stabilization, ground improvement, deep excavations.
• Advanced or intermediate user of PLAXIS & MIDAS GTS NX.
• Excellent in English (speaking, reading and writing) with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise ground investigations, including tender processes and contract administration.
• Interpret geotechnical results from field and laboratory testing.
• Perform geotechnical analyses and designs (slopes, foundations, ground improvement, excavation support).
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team and attend meetings as required.
• Assist in proposals and carry out technical research when needed.
• Display leadership and work independently with minimal supervision.

Job description

This is a full-time role for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in Petaling Jaya. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible in managing site investigations, analysing soil properties, and providing geotechnical engineering solutions. Daily tasks will include coordinating and supervising geotechnical engineering projects, preparing engineering reports, and geotechnical design works. The role requires close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and commissioning of ground investigation works including floating of tenders, tender evaluation, contract administration, etc.

Geotechnical assessment and interpretation of results from ground investigations and laboratory testing.

Undertake geotechnical analyses and designs including slope works, retaining structures, foundations, ground treatment works and excavation support systems, etc.

Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, drawings and technical specifications.

Working with a multi-disciplinary team and attend meetings, as required.

Assist to prepare proposals and carrying out technical research, if required

Display leadership quality and perform duties independently with minimal supervision

Requirements and Qualifications

Recognized degree in Civil Engineering, First Class Honours.

MSc in Geotechnical Engineering will be an advantage.

Minimum 5-9 years of civil engineering experience with emphasis on geotechnical-related design experience

Design experience in foundation for heavy structures and bridges, slope stabilization, ground improvement works, deep excavations etc.

Advanced or Intermediate user of PLAXIS & MIDAS GTS NX

Excellent in English (speak, read, and write) and demonstrate good communication skills.

Sound understanding of the soil investigation works; able to understand different type of field testing and its purposes.

Possess planning, organizational and supervision skills and able to meet demanding work schedules.

Strong leadership character and ability to meet deadlines. A team player.

Good in interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and results-oriented focus.

Experience in structural design of pile foundation up to pile cap, piled-rafts, RC walls and intermediate to advanced user of Structural Engineering softwares such as SAFE, REPUTE, STAAD.Pro etc will be an advantage.
