Job summary

AIS Malaysia is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Engineering team. You will carry out geotechnical analyses, design, review site investigations, and provide technical support for infrastructure, industrial, and building projects, working closely with team members.

The role requires interpreting ground investigation reports, lab results, and field data, developing foundation parameters, and performing design calculations for various geotechnical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization and CGPA 3.5 or higher.
• 2–5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience in consultancy or design environments.
• Sound knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, geotechnical investigations, and analyses.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong technical report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good project coordination and time management abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GEO5, SLOPE/W) is an added advantage.
• Fresh graduates with strong academic achievements and interest in geotechnical engineering are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical analyses and designs in line with project requirements and standards.

• Carry out design calculations for shallow/foundation systems, retaining walls, basements, and slope stability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out geotechnical analysis, design, site investigation review, and technical support for various infrastructure, industrial, building, and other projects, working closely with other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and designs in accordance with project requirements, design codes, industry standards, and company procedures.
• Interpret and evaluate ground investigation reports, laboratory test results, and field monitoring data.
• Develop geotechnical parameters for foundation and earth-retaining structure designs.
• Carry out design calculations and assessments for:
  • Shallow foundations
  • Deep foundations and piling systems
  • Raft foundations
  • Retaining walls
  • Basement excavations
  • Slope stability
  • Ground improvement works
  • Earthworks and site formation
• Assess settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, and soil-structure interaction.
• Conduct geotechnical risk assessments and provide practical engineering solutions and mitigation measures.
• Support feasibility studies, concept design, FEED studies, detailed design, and construction-stage engineering services.
• Prepare geotechnical design reports, technical specifications, engineering calculations, drawings, and construction documents.
• Provide technical guidance during construction and foundation installation activities.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical specialisation preferred) with a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
• 2 to 5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience in a consultancy or engineering design environment.
• Sound knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, geotechnical investigations, and geotechnical analysis.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong technical report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good project coordination and time management abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis and design software (e.g., PLAXIS, GEO5, SLOPE/W, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
