Job summary

Winbright (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Shipping Clerk to join our Import/Export & Customs operations based in Kluang, Johor.

This full-time role coordinates shipping documentation, customs compliance, and freight logistics to ensure smooth movement of goods through our international operations. You will work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and customers to prepare bills of lading, invoices, and declarations, maintain records, and support accurate tariff classification.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Shipping Clerk or similar import/export role.
• Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures and docs.
• Proficiency with shipping software and customs declaration platforms.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
• Attention to detail in shipping paperwork.
• Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Familiarity with HS codes and tariff classification (advantageous).
• Experience with Malaysian customs procedures (desirable).
• Proficiency in MS Office and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and processing shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and export/import declarations.
• Coordinating with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and shipping carriers to arrange transportation and ensure timely delivery of shipments.
• Liaising with customs authorities to ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with import/export regulations.
• Maintaining detailed shipping records and updating tracking systems to provide visibility of shipments in transit.
• Calculating and verifying freight charges, insurance costs, and other shipping-related expenses.
• Assisting in the preparation of customs clearance documents and ensuring all tariff classifications are correctly applied.
• Responding to customer inquiries regarding shipment status, delivery times, and documentation requirements.
• Coordinating warehouse activities related to shipment consolidation, labelling, and packaging for export.
• Monitoring import/export compliance and flagging any potential regulatory issues to senior staff.
• Processing shipping invoices and maintaining accurate records for billing and audit purposes.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working as a Shipping Clerk, Customs Clerk, or in a similar import/export logistics role, ideally within the manufacturing, transport or logistics sector


• Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures, customs regulations, and documentation requirements for both imports and exports


• Proficiency in using shipping and freight management software systems, as well as customs declaration platforms


• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously


• Attention to detail and accuracy when handling critical shipping documentation and customs paperwork


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders including customers, freight forwarders, and customs officials


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment


• Familiarity with Harmonized System (HS) codes and tariff classification is advantageous


• Experience with Malaysian customs procedures and regulations is highly desirable


• Proficiency in MS Office and data entry skills
