Responsibilities

  • Manage the full set of accounts (GL, AP, AR) and related accounting functions.

  • Prepare and maintain monthly schedules and reconciliations (accruals, PPE, depreciation, etc.).
  • Perform bank reconciliations and trial balance reviews; post adjusting entries.
  • Assist with tax compliance and tax returns submission.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits; provide schedules and explanations.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and authorities on financial matters.
  • Maintain orderly financial records and support documentation.

About the role We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a full-time basis at our office in Ipoh, Perak. As an Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position is central to our financial operations and requires someone who is committed to precision, organisation, and continuous professional development.

Key responsibilities

Manage the full set of accounts, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and related accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.

Prepare and review financial statements and management reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), applicable accounting requirements, and company policies.

Prepare and maintain monthly accounting schedules and reconciliations, including accruals, bankers' acceptances, contract income, deposits, finance leases, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts.

Perform bank reconciliations and trial balance reviews, investigate discrepancies and variances, and process appropriate adjusting journal entries where necessary.

Assist with tax compliance, including tax computations and the preparation and submission of tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and statutory deadlines.

Coordinate and support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and explanations, and responding to audit queries in a timely manner.

Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, financial institutions, regulatory authorities, and other relevant parties on accounting, audit, tax, banking, and statutory matters.

Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organised financial records and supporting documentation, ensuring proper filing and adherence to internal controls and established accounting procedures.

Assist Management with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, variance analysis, and other finance-related reporting as required.

Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency, reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.

Undertake other finance and accounting duties, projects, or assignments as reasonably directed by Management and commensurate with the employee's skills, qualifications, and position.

What we're looking for

A professional accounting qualification such as AAT, ACCA, ICAEW, CPA, CIMA, or an equivalent recognised qualification.

Minimum 2 years of working experience in an external audit firm (audit practice) is mandatory.

Strong technical knowledge and practical application of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), as the Company's financial reporting is prepared in accordance with MFRS.

Experience in preparing full sets of financial statements in compliance with MFRS.

Experience in preparing and maintaining comprehensive accounting schedules, including schedules for fixed assets, property, plant and equipment (PPE), accruals, prepayments, provisions, borrowings, deferred tax, inventories, trade receivables, trade payables, and other balance sheet reconciliations that support MFRS financial reporting.

Ability to prepare and maintain accounting schedules, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, statutory audits, and tax compliance.

Proficiency in accounting software and systems, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and statutory compliance requirements.

Knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Commitment to confidentiality and maintaining high ethical standards.

Proven track record of maintaining accuracy in financial record-keeping and meeting reporting deadlines.
