Job summary

Nextgen Smart Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This full-time role focuses on accurate day-to-day accounting, financial statements, and compliance with standards and regulations.

You will manage ledgers, reconciliations, timely financial reporting, bank reconciliations, budgets, and audits, while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external auditors to improve processes and provide reliable financial information.

Qualifications

• A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, or equivalent recognised accounting credential
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in financial accounting, reporting or a similar accounting function
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage large datasets
• Solid understanding of GAAP and IFRS
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in financial records and reporting
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Knowledge of Malaysian tax and regulatory requirements is advantageous
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or similar platforms is preferred

Responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining accurate general ledger entries and account reconciliations
• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Conducting bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Managing fixed asset records and conducting periodic asset verification
• Supporting the preparation of budgets, forecasts and financial analysis reports
• Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and assisting with tax reporting requirements
• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and documentation
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external auditors to support audit activities
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing efficiency enhancements

What you'll be doing
