Job summary

Woh Hup Group in Malaysia is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our main contracting team for large-scale Data Centre projects across the region. You will manage all commercial and contractual aspects from pre-contract to final account, ensuring cost control and value engineering.

The ideal candidate has 3–8 years of QS experience with a main contractor, strong knowledge of contracts and procurement, and proficiency in MS Office and QS software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• 3–8 years of Quantity Surveying experience with a main contractor.
• Experience delivering Data Centre, industrial, semiconductor, cleanroom, warehouse, or large-scale commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, and contract administration.
• Experience preparing cost reports, variation claims, and final accounts.
• Good understanding of Malaysian construction practices and contract forms.
• Proficient in MS Office and quantity surveying software.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a project team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BQ).
• Administer subcontractor procurement, tender evaluations, and contract awards.
• Prepare and evaluate subcontractor progress claims and payment certificates.
• Monitor project costs, cash flow, and budget performance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare variation orders, extension of time (EOT) claims, and final accounts.
• Conduct cost analysis and provide regular commercial reports to project management.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams on commercial matters.
• Identify commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support value engineering initiatives to optimise project costs without compromising quality.
• Maintain accurate commercial documentation and project records.

About the Role

• Minimum 3–8 years of Quantity Surveying experience with a main contractor.
• Experience delivering Data Centre, industrial, semiconductor, cleanroom, warehouse, or large-scale commercial projects will be highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and contract administration.
• Experience preparing cost reports, variation claims, and final accounts.
• Good understanding of Malaysian construction practices and contract forms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a project team.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with fast-track or mission-critical projects.
• Familiarity with FIDIC, PAM, or other standard forms of contract.
• Knowledge of M&E packages and CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) works is an advantage.
