Job summary

EAR ENGINEERING SDN BHD is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to handle cost management, procurement, and contract administration for construction projects. You will manage commercial aspects, prepare pre-/post-contract QS works, review tender docs, prepare cost estimates, and monitor project expenditure.

The role involves evaluating subcontractor quotes, preparing progress claims, and ensuring documentation accuracy. Diploma or degree in QS related fields and 2–5 years' experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or construction.
• Candidates with less experience may be considered for Junior Quantity Surveyor.
• Experience in building, civil, infrastructure or related projects is an advantage.
• Knowledge of cost control, tendering, valuation, and contract administration.

Job description

A Quantity Surveyor (QS) role focused on cost management, procurement, and contract administration for construction projects.

Manage and monitor all commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects.

Preparepre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying works.

Review and evaluatetender documents, drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities (BQ), and contract documents.

Prepare quantity take-off, cost estimates, pricing, and tender documentation.

Prepare and evaluatetender comparisons and assist in contractor/subcontractor selection.

Manage and evaluatesubcontractor and supplier quotations.

Prepare and monitorprogress claims, payment certificates, variation orders, and final accounts.

Measure and verify quantities of completed works on site.

Monitor project costs against the approved budget and identify potential cost overruns.

EvaluateVariation Orders (VO), including measurement, costing, and supporting documentation.

PrepareExtension of Time (EOT) and other contractual/commercial submissions where required.

Review and assess subcontractor claims and supporting documents.

Maintain proper records of contracts, claims, variations, payments, and other commercial documentation.

Liaise withProject Manager, Project Engineer, consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on commercial and contractual matters.

Attend site meetings, tender meetings, progress meetings, and commercial meetings.

Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.

Monitor project expenditure, cash flow, and financial commitments.

Prepare regularcost reports, commercial reports, and project financial updates for management.

Assist in the preparation offinal accounts and project close-out documentation.

Ensure all quantity surveying and commercial activities are carried out accurately and within the required timeframe.

Job Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum2-5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or construction industry is preferred.

Candidates with less experience may be considered forJunior Quantity Surveyor positions.

Experience inbuilding, civil, infrastructure, renovation, or related construction projects will be an advantage.

Strong knowledge ofquantity take-off, measurement, costing, tendering, valuation, variation, and contract administration.

Familiar withBills of Quantities (BQ), tender documents, contract documents, and construction drawings.

Good understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, and project costs.

Experience in preparing and evaluatingprogress claims, VO, EOT, final accounts, and subcontractor claims.

Proficient inMicrosoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

Knowledge ofAutoCAD is an advantage.

Good analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

Good negotiation and communication skills.

Able to work independently as well as part of a project team.

Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Willing to travel or work at project sites when required.

Valid driving licence is an advantage/required depending on project requirements.

Knowledge ofMalaysian construction contracts, CIDB requirements, and standard forms of contract will be an advantage.
