Ideal candidates hold a Diploma/Certificate in Quantity Surveying with 1–2 years of experience, and are proficient in cost estimation software and MS Office. Collaborative team player with strong analytical skills encouraged.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• 1–2 years of QS experience, preferably with MEP projects.
• Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong ability to read drawings, specs and BOQs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder liaison skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for MEP projects.
• Analyze project specs, drawings and BOQs to determine costs.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers and procurement to inform estimates.
• Maintain cost databases and historical data.
• Prepare tender documents and support negotiations with clients/subcontractors.
• Monitor costs and report variances against budget.

About the role

CKS M&E SDN. BHD. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a full-time basis in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in the estimating and cost management function of our construction operations. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing accurate cost assessments, managing project budgets, and ensuring financial viability across our mechanical and electrical construction projects. This position is integral to our project delivery strategy and directly influences the profitability and success of our contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for mechanical and electrical construction projects
• Conducting thorough analysis of project specifications, drawings, and bills of quantities to determine accurate material and labour costs
• Liaising with project managers, engineers and procurement teams to gather necessary information for cost estimation
• Maintaining and updating cost databases and historical project data to inform future estimates
• Preparing tender documents and supporting contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors
• Monitoring project costs and providing regular financial reports to track variances against budget
• Identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and value engineering without compromising project quality
• Managing variations and change orders, and assessing their financial impact on projects
• Collaborating with senior quantity surveyors on complex projects and providing mentorship to junior staff when required

What we're looking for

• Diploma/Certificate qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with preference for mechanical and electrical projects
• Strong proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Project)
• Sound knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, labour rates and project delivery approaches
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to interpret and analyse technical drawings, specifications and contract documents
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively across multiple stakeholders
• Proven capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
• Own transportation
