Job summary

JT CEMERLANG SDN BHD is seeking a Purchasing/Procurement professional to source and buy construction materials, tools, equipment and general supplies. You will manage supplier relationships, obtain quotations, negotiate terms, issue POs and coordinate with site teams to ensure timely deliveries.

The role requires negotiation skills, Excel proficiency, and the ability to analyse quotations. Experience in construction purchasing is advantageous in a dynamic project environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• Experience in construction purchasing/procurement is an advantage.
• Good negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Able to compare quotations and analyse pricing.
• Responsible, organised and able to work under pressure.
• Exposure to on-site building construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase construction materials, tools, equipment and general supplies.
• Obtain quotations from suppliers and prepare quotation comparisons.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules and other commercial terms.
• Issue Purchase Orders (PO) and monitor order status.
• Coordinate with project/site teams to ensure materials are delivered according to requirements and schedule.
• Follow up with suppliers regarding delivery, shortages, defective materials and replacements.
• Maintain an updated supplier and material price database.
• Evaluate and develop reliable suppliers.
• Check purchase invoices against Purchase Orders and delivery orders.
• Monitor purchasing costs and assist in cost-saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities
