Job summary

Hung Thong Food Technology Sdn Bhd is seeking a Purchasing Executive in Malaysia to oversee sourcing, negotiation and supplier management for a diverse range of raw materials and packaging. You will drive cost optimization, manage supplier performance and ensure timely material availability to support production lines.

The role requires 1–2 years of related purchasing experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with SAP ERP.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain or related field.
• 1–2 years purchasing experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Proficient in MS Excel and ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. 1. Sourcing & Procurement
   Source and purchase raw materials, packaging materials, equipment and other company requirements.
   Prepare cost comparisons, negotiate pricing and issue Purchase Orders (PO).
2. 2. Cost Optimisation
   Identify cost-saving opportunities through competitive sourcing, price negotiations and continuous improvement.
   Negotiate favourable pricing, payment terms and purchasing conditions.
3. 3. Supplier Management
   Develop and maintain good relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
   Monitor and evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery and service.
4. 4. Purchasing Operations
   Monitor purchase orders, follow up on deliveries and ensure timely material availability.
   Coordinate with relevant departments and suppliers to support smooth operations and minimise supply disruptions.
5. 5. Documentation & Compliance
   Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information and procurement documentation.
   Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, procedures and applicable requirements.
6. 6. Other Responsibilities
   Support purchasing improvement initiatives, cost reduction programmes and assigned projects.
   Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Responsible, safety-conscious and committed to maintaining equipment reliability and minimizing production downtime.
• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Food Technology or related disciplines.
• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant working experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in using SAP ERP system, particularly in purchasing and procurement functions, will be an added advantage.
• Good analytical, cost evaluation and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good planning, organisational and follow-up skills.
• Responsible, proactive, detail-oriented and willing to learn.
• Able to work independently and effectively with different departments.
