Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a highly organized Purchaser to manage sourcing and supply of construction materials, equipment, and services. The role focuses on timely procurement, vendor management, and cost optimization to support project delivery in Kuala Lumpur.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of purchasing or material sourcing experience in construction or related sectors, with strong negotiation skills and attention to detail. Diploma or Bachelors degree required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration or related field.
• 24 years of purchasing or material sourcing experience, preferably in construction/engineering/hardware trading.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills; detail-oriented with ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Source reliable suppliers and issue RFQs; prepare price comparison sheets.
• Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to maximize cost savings while maintaining quality.
• Generate and issue Purchase Orders using internal systems with clear terms and conditions.
• Coordinate delivery and logistics with site supervisors and project managers to ensure timely arrival of materials.
• Verify DOs and invoices against POs to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain and evaluate approved supplier/subcontractor database based on performance and cost.

About the job

• Sourcing & RFQs: Source reliable suppliers, issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and compile price comparison sheets for management review.
• Negotiation & Cost Control: Negotiate competitive prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve maximum cost savings without compromising quality.
• PO Administration: Generate and issue Purchase Orders (POs) accurately using internal systems, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly stated.
• Delivery & Logistics Coordination: Coordinate closely with site supervisors and project managers to track delivery timelines and ensure materials arrive on site exactly when needed.
• Invoice Verification: Match delivery orders (DOs) and invoices against POs to resolve any discrepancies in quantity or pricing before passing to the accounts team.
• Vendor Relationship Management: Maintain and evaluate an updated database of approved suppliers and subcontractors based on performance, reliability, and price

About the manager/team

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Purchaisng Manager.

Skills and experience required

• Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in purchasing or material sourcing, preferably within the construction, engineering, or hardware trading sector.
• Attributes: Sharp negotiation skills, strong attention to detail, high integrity, and the ability to work under tight project deadlines.
