Job summary

Real Project Management is seeking a Project Manager / Construction Manager in Malaysia to lead hotel, hospitality, commercial building and data centre projects. You will oversee all phases from planning to handover, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring schedule, budget and quality compliance across mission-critical facilities.

The role requires at least 10 years in construction, strong leadership, and proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree in a related field with a minimum of 10 years in construction.
  • Proven track record leading hotel, hospitality, commercial and data centre projects.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, manage, and oversee all aspects of project execution for hotel and data centre builds.
  • Supervise day-to-day construction activities and ensure compliance with drawings, specs, schedules, quality and safety.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and suppliers for efficient delivery and timely completion.
  • Develop budgets, schedules, resource plans, procurement, and cash flow controls.
  • Ensure integration of architectural, structural, MEP, and systems works.
  • Monitor progress, address delays and risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead meetings with progress, coordination, contractor, and client teams.
  • Manage variations, claims, changes, and commercial aspects while ensuring governance.
  • Ensure statutory, safety, environmental compliance and client satisfaction at handover.
  • Produce weekly/monthly reports and maintain strong client relationships.

Project Manager / Construction Manager
Preferred Candidate
  • Proven experience in managing Hotel, Hospitality, Commercial Building, and Data Centre Construction Projects.

  • Strong leadership capabilities in overseeing large-scale projects from planning, construction, testing & commissioning through to handover.

  • Experience managing clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Familiarity with mission-critical facilities, MEP systems, and hotel operational requirements will be highly advantageous.

Job Description
  • Lead, plan, manage, and oversee all aspects of project execution to ensure successful delivery of hotel and data centre construction projects.

  • Manage day-to-day construction activities and ensure all works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, project schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.

  • Coordinate and supervise project teams, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient project delivery and timely completion.

  • Develop, monitor, and control project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, procurement activities, and cash flow requirements.

  • Ensure all construction works are properly sequenced, coordinated, and integrated across architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and specialist systems.

  • Monitor project progress against key milestones and implement corrective actions to address delays, technical issues, and project risks.

  • Lead progress meetings, technical coordination meetings, contractor meetings, and client meetings to ensure alignment among all stakeholders.

  • Review and manage variation orders, project claims, contractual matters, change management processes, and commercial issues.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safety regulations, environmental standards, company policies, and project governance procedures.

  • Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging, defect rectification, and final handover activities to ensure operational readiness and client satisfaction.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly project reports, including progress updates, budget status, risk assessments, quality performance, and key management recommendations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, authorities, and project stakeholders.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management from time to time.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Management, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent.

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the construction industry with proven experience managing Hotel, Hospitality, Commercial Building, or Data Centre Projects.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading medium to large-scale projects from project initiation through construction, commissioning, and handover.

  • Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, contract administration, construction methodologies, cost control, and risk management.

  • Experience managing consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Experience in luxury hotel developments, hospitality projects, or international branded hotels will be an added advantage.

  • Experience in Data Centre construction projects, including critical MEP systems, testing & commissioning, and operational readiness, will be highly preferred.

  • Proficient in project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken.

  • PMP, PRINCE2, Professional Engineer (PE), or related professional certifications will be an added advantage.
