Sena Traffic Systems Sdn Bhd is seeking a M&E Project Engineer & Coordinator to support the successful delivery of our construction and traffic infrastructure projects in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
This is a hands‑on project coordination role that bridges the gap between engineering design, project management and on‑site execution. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and relevant authorities to ensure project activities are properly coordinated, documented and delivered according to the required schedule, quality standards and contractual requirements.
The ideal candidate is organised, technically competent and comfortable working in both office and site environments, with strong attention to detail and the ability to resolve day‑to‑day project issues effectively.
Prepare, coordinate, process and track project documentation, including Requests for Information (RFIs), shop drawings, material submittals, technical submissions and other project records.
Review documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Maintain proper filing and tracking of project correspondence, approvals, submissions and technical documents.
Assist in preparing project reports, meeting minutes, progress updates and other project‑related documentation.
Monitor and coordinate daily construction activities to ensure works are progressing according to the approved project schedule.
Coordinate the activities of contractors, subcontractors and site teams to minimise delays and ensure smooth project execution.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor work progress and identify technical, logistical or coordination issues.
Follow up on outstanding site matters and coordinate with relevant parties to ensure timely resolution.
Assist the Project Manager in coordinating site meetings and project discussions.
Assist the Project Manager in developing, updating and monitoring master project schedules, work programmes and key milestones.
Track daily and weekly project progress against planned schedules and identify potential delays.
Monitor material deliveries and coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure materials are available when required.
Assist in monitoring project costs, quantities, progress claims and billing‑related documentation.
Prepare regular project progress reports for management and relevant stakeholders.
Review and interpret engineering drawings, architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications and project documentation.
Coordinate technical information between project teams, contractors, consultants and relevant authorities.
Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues encountered during project execution.
Coordinate design changes, technical clarifications and site instructions where required.
Provide engineering and technical support to ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
Act as a coordination point between project managers, site teams, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and municipal/regulatory authorities.
Ensure project information and instructions are communicated clearly and in a timely manner.
Follow up with relevant parties on outstanding submissions, approvals, materials, site issues and project deliverables.
Participate in project meetings and coordinate follow‑up actions to ensure agreed matters are closed within the required timeframe.
Monitor site activities to ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements and applicable standards.
Support quality control and inspection activities throughout project execution.
Ensure site operations comply with applicable health, safety and environmental requirements.
Identify non‑conformance, quality issues or safety concerns and coordinate with the relevant parties for corrective action.
Maintain proper records of inspections, site issues and corrective actions.
Assist in coordinating testing, commissioning, inspection and project handover activities.
Coordinate the preparation and submission of as‑built drawings, completion documents, test reports and other handover documentation.
Follow up on outstanding defects, rectification works and final project deliverables.
Ensure project documentation is properly completed and maintained upon project completion.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), Electrical Engineering, ELV, System Engineering, Network Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant working experience in project engineering, construction coordination, engineering support or project coordination.
Candidates with hands‑on experience in construction, infrastructure, traffic systems, ELV, electrical, network or related engineering projects are encouraged to apply.
Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, consultants or site teams will be an advantage.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications and technical documents.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar technical drawing software.
Working knowledge of MS Project or other project scheduling/project management software.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with project documentation, site coordination and construction processes.
Strong organisational and coordination skills with good attention to detail.
Good problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
Able to manage multiple tasks, priorities and project deadlines effectively.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with project teams.
Proactive and able to follow up effectively on outstanding project matters.
Comfortable working in a site‑based and office environment.
Willing to travel to project sites when required.
Possess a valid driving licence.
