Job summary

Cantilever Sdn Bhd is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to support the Principal Site Engineer on major infrastructure projects in Malaysia. You will coordinate daily site activities, monitor progress with MS Project, and prepare critical documentation such as EOT, Site Instructions, and Variation Orders.

The role involves advising PM/CM on delays, preparing contracts with clients and subcontractors, and producing daily reports and RFIs for site works. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• Support the Principal Site Engineer in daily site activities and coordination tasks.
• Track and monitor site progress using Microsoft Project according to the project schedule.
• Compile and organize documentation related to Extension of Time (EOT), Site Instructions and Variation Orders for submission to the Project Manager.
• Advise the Project Manager and Construction Manager on delays and assist in preparing contractual correspondence to Client and Subcontractors.
• Prepare mini work programs based on the Two Weeks Look Ahead Plan provided by the Construction Manager.
• Prepare and update the Material Wastage Report to monitor usage and minimize loss.
• Prepare and submit accurate Site Daily Reports in a timely manner.
• Prepare and submit Request for Inspection (RFI) forms to the Supervising Consultant prior to site works.
• Plan and prepare site material requests to ensure timely availability of items.
• Prepare work-done sketches and joint measurement sketches for subcontractor works for monthly progress claims.
• Supervise and monitor staff under your responsibility as per the site organization chart.
• Liaise with Consultants to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth site progress; discuss cost implications with Project/Construction Managers before engaging the Consultant.
• Review revised construction drawings for discrepancies and notify the QA/QC Engineer for follow-up.
• Ensure all site works are executed in accordance with approved drawings and decisions from RFIs.

Compile and organize all documentation related to Extension of Time (EOT), such as Site Instructions and Variation Orders, for submission to the Project Manager.

Advise the Project Manager and Construction Manager on issues causing delays and assist in preparing the necessary contractual correspondence to the Client and Subcontractors.

Prepare mini work programs as required, based on the Two Weeks Look Ahead Plan provided by the Construction Manager.

Prepare and submit accurate and timely Site Daily Reports.

Prepare work-done sketches for works carried out by the Project Team and compile joint measurement sketches for works undertaken by Subcontractors for the Contracts Department’s monthly progress claims.

Supervise and monitor any staff under your responsibility as per the site organization chart.

Liaise with Consultants to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth site progress. Any cost implications must be discussed with the Project Manager and Construction Manager prior to engaging the Consultant.

Review revised construction drawings for discrepancies and notify the QA/QC Engineer for follow-up.

Ensure all site works are executed in accordance with approved construction drawings and decisions concluded via approved RFIs.

Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Minimum 1–2 years of working experience in a similar capacity; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office applications.
