in Penang seeks a Project Engineer to support planning, coordination and execution of engineering and construction projects, working with the Project Manager, engineers, consultants, contractors and clients to ensure safe delivery on schedule and within budget. You will review drawings, oversee site activities, manage RFIs and NCRs, monitor progress against milestones, and participate in meetings.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of relevant project engineering or construction experience.
• Strong ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Good project coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient English communication; able to work with international teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in planning and managing project activities from design through construction and commissioning.
• Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical disciplines for smooth execution.
• Review drawings, specs, method statements, and shop drawings.
• Monitor progress against programme and milestones.
• Support RFIs, technical queries, NCRs, and approvals.
• Participate in site and progress meetings and prepare minutes.
• Identify and resolve technical, design and construction issues.
• Assist in monitoring risks, variations, claims and delays.

Job description

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination and execution of engineering and construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager, engineering disciplines, consultants, contractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

Assist the Project Manager in planning and managing project activities from design through construction and commissioning.

Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth project execution.

Review engineering drawings, specifications, method statements, technical submissions and shop drawings.

Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.

Monitor project progress against approved programme, milestones and deliverables.

Assist in identifying and resolving technical, design and construction issues.

Monitor site activities and ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and applicable standards.

Assist in managing RFIs, technical queries, NCRs, inspections and approvals.

Participate in site meetings, coordination meetings and progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes/action trackers.

Assist with monitoring project risks, variations, claims and potential delays.

About you

Degree/Diploma in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

2–5 years of relevant project engineering or construction experience.

Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications and construction methods.

Good project coordination and problem-solving skills.

Able to communicate effectively with consultants, contractors, suppliers and clients.

Good command of written and spoken English.

Proficient in MS Office; experience with project management/document control systems is an advantage.

Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

Willing to be based in Penang and undertake site visits as required.
