Job summary

UST is seeking an experienced POS Installation Support Engineer to lead end-to-end installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of POS systems across client/store locations in Malaysia. You will handle hardware assembly, cabling, peripherals, software setups, and basic networking.

You will travel to multiple sites, support after-hours installations, and train store staff on POS usage while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on POS installation experience.
• Experience in POS installation, hardware assembly, IT field support, or related technical role.
• Hands-on knowledge of USB, RS232/serial, HDMI, Ethernet, and power cabling.
• Experience installing software on Windows, Android, or Linux-based POS systems.
• Basic knowledge of Wi-Fi, IP addressing, routers, and switches.
• Familiarity with common POS peripherals and payment devices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer-facing skills with ability to train store users.
• Physically able to lift/carry equipment, work under counters, and use ladders for installation.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including outside normal business hours.

Responsibilities

• Install and assemble complete POS terminals, monitors, mounting hardware, and cabling at client/store locations.
• Configure and integrate POS peripherals including barcode scanners, printers, customer displays, cash drawers, payment terminals, and weighing scales.
• Install and configure POS applications, drivers, runtimes, licenses, updates, and patches.
• Configure Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB, and serial/RS232 connectivity between POS systems and peripherals.
• Perform end-to-end testing of hardware, software, peripherals, and network connectivity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, peripheral, and connectivity issues during and after installation.
• Provide basic POS orientation and training to store staff.
• Maintain installation tools, cables, spare parts, and equipment inventory.
• Travel to multiple client/store locations and support after-hours installations when required.
• Follow established installation, safety, quality, and documentation standards.
