Job summary

PMG Healthcare is seeking an experienced Medical Officer to join our team in Miri, Sarawak. This full-time role delivers high-quality primary care.

You will conduct consultations, diagnose and treat common conditions, maintain records, and work with nursing staff to ensure coordinated patient care. The ideal candidate holds an MD/MBBS with full Malaysian registration and 2+ years in general practice, with strong communication and Malay/English proficiency; Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience in general practice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical consultations for acute and chronic conditions.

• Maintain accurate medical records for all encounters.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure coordinated care.
• Respond to medical emergencies with appropriate first-line management.

About the role

PMG Healthcare is seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Officer to join our healthcare team in Miri, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering high-quality primary healthcare services to our patients. As a Medical Officer, you will be at the forefront of patient care, providing clinical expertise, diagnosis, and treatment whilst contributing to the overall health and wellbeing of the community we serve.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting comprehensive medical consultations and assessments for patients presenting with various acute and chronic conditions
• Performing physical examinations and diagnostic procedures to establish accurate diagnoses
• Prescribing appropriate medications and developing individualised treatment plans for patients
• Managing common illnesses and providing preventative healthcare advice to patients
• Maintaining detailed and accurate medical records for all patient interactions
• Collaborating with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
• Responding to medical emergencies and providing appropriate first-line management
• Participating in health screening programmes and vaccination initiatives
• Providing health education and counselling to patients on lifestyle modifications and disease prevention
• Contributing to continuous quality improvement and adherence to clinical protocols and guidelines

What we’re looking for

• A valid medical degree (MD or MBBS) from a recognised medical institution
• Full registration and licence to practise medicine in Malaysia with the Malaysian Medical Council
• Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in general practice or primary healthcare settings
• Strong clinical knowledge and competency in diagnosing and managing common medical conditions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations
• Proficiency in Malay, English and Mandarin language
• A commitment to maintaining professional development and staying current with medical best practices
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment whilst maintaining high standards of care
• Strong teamwork and collaborative skills with a patient-centred approach to healthcare delivery
• Experience in managing patients in a primary healthcare or general practice environment is highly desirable
