Job summary

FOCUS Hotmelt is seeking an experienced logistics professional in Port Klang, Malaysia to manage end-to-end import/export documentation, HS coding, and customs compliance. The role involves coordinating with customs brokers, carriers, and 3PLs to ensure timely clearance and delivery of goods.

The candidate will monitor freight costs, prepare performance reports, and support budgeting for logistics activities. On-site role based in Port Klang, with opportunities to optimize routes and processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, verify and maintain import/export documents (invoices, packing lists, COO, B/L, regulatory forms).
• Classify goods under HS Codes and ensure compliance with Malaysian and international customs regulations.
• Coordinate with customs brokers for smooth clearance of shipments.
• Coordinate shipment bookings with carriers; track vessel schedules and arrange trucking/warehousing.
• Issue shipping instructions and pre-alerts for inbound and outbound cargo.
• Monitor cargo loading/unloading for proper handling and SOP compliance.
• Act as primary contact for 3PLs, freight forwarders, trucking companies and brokers.
• Monitor vendor performance via KPIs like on-time delivery and cost accuracy.
• Analyze freight/logistics costs for savings and prepare weekly/monthly performance reports.

• Prepare, verify, and maintain all import and export documents including commercial invoices, packing lists, COO, B/L, and other regulatory forms.
• Ensure correct goods classification under proper HS Codes and full compliance with Malaysian and international customs regulations.
• Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure smooth and timely clearance of shipments.
• Coordinate shipment bookings with carriers and freight forwarders; track vessel schedules and arrange trucking, warehousing, and related logistics activities.
• Issue shipping instructions and prepare pre-alerts for all inbound and outbound cargo.
• Coordinate and monitor cargo loading/unloading to ensure proper handling and compliance with SOPs.
• Manage shipment exceptions including delays, damages, or documentation errors, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for 3PLs, freight forwarders, trucking companies, and customs brokers.
• Monitor vendor performance using key KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Escalate service issues and propose improvements to enhance logistics reliability.
• Analyse freight, transport, and logistics costs to identify savings opportunities such as consolidation or route optimization.
• Prepare weekly and monthly logistics performance reports (cost analysis, transit time, DIFOT, exceptions).
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities for logistics cost planning.
