Job summary

MEIA Group Sdn Bhd is seeking a Junior Mechanical CAD Designer to join our engineering team. You will assist in 2D/3D CAD modelling, drafting, and producing production drawings under guidance from senior engineers.

Responsibilities include creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, preparing BOMs for manufacturing, and maintaining CAD data. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and follow engineering standards, ensuring designs meet quality requirements.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in engineering design and drafting.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical design and GD&T.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD modelling and drafting processes.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical CAD Designer to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to build hands-on experience in product design and development. The role involves assisting in 2D/3D CAD modelling, drafting, and preparing production drawings under the guidance of senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

Actively participate in creating detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software (i.e. SolidWorks)

Assist in preparing detailed engineering drawings and BOMs (Bill of Materials) for manufacturing

Collaborate with senior designers to revise and update existing designs

Maintain and organize CAD data, drawing files, and design documentation

Participate in design reviews and implement feedback to improve design quality

Support cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, quality, and procurement

Learn and follow company standards, procedures, and engineering best practices

Ensure final designs comply with industry regulations and requirements, quality standards

About you

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in engineering design and drafting

Fundamental knowledge in mechanical components and systems, preferably in the heavy-duty equipment or sheet metal fabrication sector

Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical or automotive engineering or a related field

Knowledge of CAD software like SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, Creo, or similar

Good understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, engineering drawing, and GD&T through CADD (Computer Aided Design & Drafting)

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia

Ability to work both independently and within a team environment

Internship or project experience in CAD design or mechanical drafting is preferred

Familiarity with sheet metal, weldments, or mechanical assemblies is preferred
